Greg Neely - ABS—Handles and Guards

This workshop is designed to continue the course of study set forth from the ABS Introduction to Bladesmithing course. This Handles and Guards workshop includes detailed information on handles, both full tang and narrow tang, guards, butt caps, decorative file work, spiral dagger handles, wire inlay, finished blades etc. Students will be instructed on how to make a professional looking knife. Participants are expected to possess the skill and knowledge to forge, grind and heat treat blades prior to this class. Students are expected to bring finished (forged, ground, heat treated) blades to outfit to this class.
Greg Neely received his ABS Mastersmith rating in 1993. He is the current Present of the American Bladesmith Society and has been a member of the ABS Board of Directors since 1998. He has taught various courses in bladesmithing since 1993, and has taught ABS classes in ABS schools in Arkansas and North Carolina, as well as hammer-ins throughout the United States. He has also demonstrated at hammer-ins and knife shows in the country of France. He currently lives in Bellaire, Texas and operates his bladesmithing shop in Houston, Texas.
